The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando closed its gates for almost five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the closure and reopening process, their social media outlets were utilized to keep guests engaged and informed.

News about Walt Disney World’s reopening process and dates were something that many guests were anxiously awaiting. Anytime there were developments, it could be found on their social media pages.

Everything from when they submitted the reopening date for the parks to the county for approval to procedures for Disney Springs’ return were posted to keep everyone informed. For example, the Walt Disney World Twitter account posted the video below to illustrate how the enhanced health and safety procedures would be implemented in the resort hotels.

There is nothing better than eating a Mickey shaped pretzel in front of Cinderella Castle or scarfing down a massive piece of Tonga Toast for breakfast at the Polynesian Resort, but I guess a close second is doing the same from home. During the parks and resorts closure the Walt Disney World social media pages launched the “Cooking up the Magic at home” series.

Disney foods and snacks are a huge part of every guest’s magical vacation and have become iconic themselves. This series allowed Disney foodies to recreate their favorite in-park and resort snacks from home to get a… well, taste of the magic in their own kitchen.

It was a great way to generate hands-on user involvement with the brand from wherever they were. The post below was from April 24th, during the closure. However, new recipes are still being posted even though the parks have once again reopened. They now feature current festival favorites in EPCOT for those at home who want to experience the magic but don’t feel comfortable booking a vacation to the parks at this time.
